Early Booking Pays Off…Again   Leave a comment

The latest ship being built by Norwegian Cruise Line, the Escape, has had it’s steel cut and its first cruises released for booking.

DH and I were awaiting the announcement of the transatlantic crossing. We knew it was to be in October 2015 but little else. Although we eagerly waited the announcement, we thought it unlikely we could afford to book the cruise. We have been spoiled on our last two crossings having sailed in the ship-within-a-ship complex NCL calls The Haven. However price has been prohibitive on the last two new builds with suite prices beginning in the $10,000 range. 😳

Fortunately , NCL priced this cruise more reasonably and we pounced, immediately reserving a room in the Haven. There was some shuffling as we found out the Haven restaurant would be on the second floor instead of the first (as it is on the three other ships with a Haven), but we are now set.

Good thing too…as the price for our suite has already climbed $1,000!

Now we get to watch over the next 18 months as details of the Escape are revealed.

NCL Blew Up My Cruise!   Leave a comment

So. I booked an 11-day Southern Caribbean cruise next May on the Norwegian Pearl. I did this knowing fully well that NCL has cancelled
cruises on the Pearl the last two years for music charters.

I figured worst case I’d pocket the $100 OBC offered for cancellation and go to Hawaii instead.

Well, I received the letter from NCL Friday confirming my fears. Actually, my cruise got messed up by one lousy day. They changed my 11-day to a much less desirable 10-day.

The good news is there is another 11-day later in the month that I can move to. The bad news is that my category of cabin isn’t available and I’ll have to pay more to stay in a suite.

But DH and I agree we want to stick with this cruise. Hawaii will always be there and I can’t find this itinerary elsewhere.
